Ann Schelle, 75

Ann Schelle, 75, beloved wife of Dale Schelle for over 58 years, of West Lafayette, went to heaven with Jesus at 3:49 p.m. Tuesday, December 18, 2012, in her home surrounded by her loving family, after battling cancer since 1991.

Born on March 10, 1937, in Lafayette, she was the daughter of the late Wilson and Agnes Roudebush Dowell. Ann attended West Point and Battle Ground schools. On August 7, 1954, she married Dale D. Schelle in Lafayette and he survives. She retired from Marsh Supermarkets in West Lafayette where she worked as a produce clerk for 23 years. Ann enjoyed wintering in Okeechobbe, Fla. with her husband for the past 23 years where she enjoyed her many friends in Florida and the family that visited. She also enjoyed flea marketing, garage sales, camping, traveling, shopping, reading, flowers and spending time with her family. Christmas was her favorite time of year.

Surviving with her husband, Dale, are her daughters, Jackie Jessie (husband: Rick), Vickie Rettig (husband: Mark) and Linda Hayenga (husband: Dan), all of West Lafayette; brothers, William Dowell (wife: Madelyn) and Bobby Dowell (wife: Karen), of Lafayette. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, who all were the light of her life and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Hippensteel Funeral Home. Funeral service 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home; Pastor David Nance officiating. Burial to follow at Rest Haven Memorial Park.
