Annette Wortman, 84, of Brookston, passed away at 6:00 a.m. Thursday, March 28, 2013 at her residence.
She was born April 19, 1928 in Los Angeles, California to the late Frank and Oleva (Brown) Wortman. She graduated from Klondike High School in 1946 and attended college at DePauw University.
She worked as an executive secretary at Purdue University
for several years, and retired in 1995. During her time at Purdue, she was the secretary for Dr. C.J. Brown, who was awarded a Nobel Prize. Annette went to Sweden with Dr. Brown and his family when he received it. Prior to Purdue, Annette worked at a Research Plant in Virginia.
She was a member of Mt. Zion Methodist Church and Order of the Eastern Star, and she enjoyed her cats.
Surviving is her first cousin, Wilmeda Cain of Lafayette and several second and third cousins, including Paul Cain (wife: Mary) of Lafayette, who helped care for her.
Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at Grandview Cemetery of West Lafayette with Rev. Ernie Elder officiating. Share memories and condolences online at www.clapperfuneralservices.com
