Bette Lenartz Mitchell, 87
Bette Mitchell, 87, died Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at Kindred Transitional Care in Lafayette. Bette was born September 27, 1925 in Lafayette the daughter of the late Earl Wandrei and was raised by Gladys Plumb.
Bette worked at the Chesterfield and Pizza King. She was one of the first three Pizza King employees. She later worked as housemother for both Delta Gamma and Theta Chi before retiring.
Bette loved to be around family and friends, loved to listen to and dance to Big Band music and was an avid reader.
She married Clarence "Red" Lenartz in 1944. They had four children. He died in 1965. She then married Kenneth Mitchell and moved to Key Biscayne, FL where they lived for 11 years before returning to Lafayette in 1976. He died in 1990.
She has resided at Kindred Transitional Care for the past 10 years.
She is survived by three children: Marge Stivers (husband Gary), Pamela Eylens and Gary (Russ) Lenartz (wife Diane); eight grandchildren, Joseph Easton, Clark Stivers, Wylie Stivers, Rob Eylens, Timothy Eylens, Rebecca Lenartz, Jacob Lenartz, and Tina Janssen. Also surviving are twelve great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son Robert Lenartz, a stepson Patrick Mitchell, a son-in-law Robert Eylens, two grandchildren Angela Stivers Russell Maitlen and Cindy (Sis) Eylens.
Friends may call from 2:00 pm until the time of the service at 3:30 pm on Monday, November 19, 2012 at Soller-Baker Funeral Home 400 Twyckenham Blvd, Lafayette, IN 47909 with Fr. Phil Bowers officiating.
