Betty Ann (New) Crum, 80

Betty Ann (New) Crum, 80, of rural Frankfort, died at 8:20 p.m. on Monday, November 11, 2013 in St. Vincent Heart Center, Indianapolis, IN. She was born in Boone County on September 22, 1933, to Elbert C. & Ruby H. (King) New. She met the love of her life in 1948 and was married to Max A. Crum on November 17, 1951. They farmed in Clinton County all their life.

Betty attended Jackson Elementary School, Beard School, and was a 1951 graduate of Michigantown High School. She was a 60+ year member of Beard /Frankfort OES holding several offices and was Worthy Matron in 1960-61.

She worked a short time at Clinton Central School and in the Auditor's office of Clinton County. She then worked for Heavilon Credit Bureau for 8 ½ years and retired from Milner Community Health Care in Rossville after nearly 20 years as bookkeeper and office manager.

Betty was member of Hopewell United Methodist Church for 65 years, played organ and piano for the church for many years, a member of United Methodist Women, Friendship Class and Church Women United. She was a member of the Genealogy Society of Clinton County and did some genealogy research of both sides of the family. Betty and her husband delivered Meals on Wheels and volunteered with Michigantown Food Pantry for several years.

She enjoyed sewing for her family, reading, gardening and flowers and attending the sports events of her children and grandchildren. She loved her family and enjoyed being with them.

Survivors include her husband Max, daughter Denise Robertson of Plainfield, daughter Marsha Catron Randall (John) of West Lafayette, son Rick (Peggy) of rural; Rossville, sons Glenn (Stephanie) and John (Tina), both of rural Frankfort. Also 14 grandchildren, Ryan Robertson (Sara) of rural Martinsville, Amber Robertson of Plainfield, Klarisa Catron Quackenbush (Christopher) of Fort Wayne, Jonathan Catron of Pendleton, Jeremy (Lana) Crum , Caleb (Caren) Crum, Bethany (Zach) Brown, Rachel Crum all of rural Rossville, Jared Crum of Lafayette, Tiffany (Damon) Gerald of rural Frankfort, Brittany Crum of Paris, Texas and Demaris, Jade & Jordan Crum all of rural Frankfort, 15 great grandchildren, a brother Meredith New of Frankfort and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Eugene, a son-in-law Bill Catron.

Visitations will be at Goodwin Funeral Home from 3-7 p.m. on Friday, November 15, 2013 and from 9:30-10 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Service will be at the Hopewell United Methodist Church, 3460 E CR 500 N, Frankfort, IN, near Beard at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 16, 2013. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery.
