Cecile M. Wolszon, 85

Cecile M. Wolszon, age 85, of West Lafayette, passed away at 1:15 p.m. Friday, October 4, 2013 at University Place in West Lafayette.

Born on April 7, 1928 in Athens, GA, she was the daughter of the late William Jewel and Elizabeth O'Brien Jewel. After graduating from Mercyhurst College, she earned her Master's Degree in Education from Penn State University.

Cecile married John D. Wolszon on July 25, 1953 in Athens, PA and he preceded her in death on September 2, 1997.

Cecile was a devoted friend, a loving wife and mother, and a devout Catholic who put her love and faith into action. She was a devoted mother of six children and a friend to everyone she met. Her greatest accomplishment was her family. One of her greatest loves was volunteering at St. Elizabeth Central where she served for 37 years, and over 13,000 hours. Cecile was an avid Purdue Boilermaker fan. For all who knew her, she will be missed and never forgotten.

She is survived by her six grateful children and their families: Elizabeth Wolszon of Chicago, IL, William Wolszon of San Diego, CA, Michael Wolszon (wife: Julie) of Austin, TX, Robert Wolszon (wife: Linda) of Ft. Worth, TX, Mary Hays (husb: Jon) of Fishers, IN and James Wolszon of Oakland, CA, and 7 grandchildren: Max Wolszon, Taylor Hays, Zoe Wolszon, Tanner Hays, Katarina Nelson, Nathan Wolszon and Michael Wolszon. She was preceded in death by a cousin: John McGrath.

A Celebration Gathering will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at Church of the Blessed Sacrament. A Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Franciscan St. Elizabeth Hospital Auxiliary. The family wants to express their thanks to the loving caregivers at University Place.
