Charles E. Leaman, Jr., 73

Charles E. "Spike" Leaman, Jr., 73, of Monticello, passed away at 2:40 p.m., November 26, 2012, at his residence.

He was born on April 20, 1939, in Lafayette, to the late Charles E. and Sylvia "Toby" (Nichols) Leaman. In October of 1969, in Valdosta, Georgia, he married Barbara L. McMahel. She survives.

Spike had lived in the Monticello community since 1980, coming from Delphi.

He retired from Landis+Gyr after 14 years of employment.

Spike and his wife, Barbara opened the Monticello Machine Shop in Monticello after his retirement. They owned and operated the business for over 7 years.

He used to enjoy fishing and woodworking.

Surviving are wife, Barbara L. Leaman of Monticello; sons, Charles E. "Ed" (Karen) Leaman, III of West Lafayette, and John Leaman of Lafayette; granddaughters, Shannel (John) Keller of West Lafayette, and Breanne Leaman of Indianapolis; three great-grandchildren; brothers, Dan (Pat) Leaman, and Gary Leaman, both of Lafayette; sister, Nancy Jo (Dave) Lemming of Frankfort; and multiple other friends in the area.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., November 30, 2012, at the Miller-Roscka Funeral Home of Monticello. Celebration of Life Services will be held at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m., November 30, 2012.

Burial will follow at the I.O.O.F. Riverview Cemetery in rural Monticello.
