Claudia Patricia Siemens, 51
Claudia Patricia Siemens, 51, passed Saturday March 10th at 1:45 p.m. at Kindred Rehabilitation Center (formerly Regency Healthcare) from a 4 month battle with a brain stem tumor. Born November 10, 1960, in Lafayette, she was the daughter of Barbara Wolfe Siemens, (deceased) and Miros Siemens Jr. (deceased), of West Lafayette. Deceased sibling; Craig Siemens. Surviving siblings; Lucinda Siemens Foulke (spouse: Richard), Teresa Siemens King, (spouse: Bradford, deceased), Nicholas A Siemens (spouse: Barbara Bush), Clarissa A. M. Siemens (spouse: Ricardo Monterrossa), Eugenia (Gigi) R. Siemens Fair (spouse- Alexander).
Claudia courageously survived a brain tumor as a young child of two, against all odds. She recovered and lived her life joyously with resulting handicaps. She fully participated in the chaotic lives of the large Siemens family, attending school, finishing high school with special education diploma. Claudia participated in Special Olympics
swimming and running events. And in 1985, she represented Indiana in the international Special Olympics Winter Games in Paoli Peaks, Utah. She earned medals in Alpine downhill skiing and the women's moguls events.
Working at Wabash Center and in the community, she lived in the Lafayette independent living and group homes until a decline in capability, whereupon Claudia moved to Regency, now known as Kindred. In 2006 she survived a second brain surgery for benign tumors on the brain surface, with barely any loss in function. Unfortunately, the last fatal tumor, was diagnosed in November, 2012.
Memorial Service will be held on Saturday April 13th from 1 to 4 p.m., service starting at 2 p.m., at Faith Community Center, 5526 Indiana 26, Lafayette, IN 47905, in community room 1. Please make memorial contributions to Wabash Center or Indiana Special Olympics.
