Elizabeth "Boots" (Miller) Johnson, 87, of West Lafayette, passed away Sunday, May 5, 2013 at Cumberland Pointe Health Campus. Born December 29, 1925 in Indianapolis, IN, she was the daughter of the late Orlan L. and Esley (Furnas) Miller.
She married Arthur E. Johnson on October 12, 1947 in St. Paul, IN and he preceded her in death on May 30, 1983. Mrs. Johnson worked in the office at Indiana Vocational Rehabilitation Services, retiring in 1994. Prior to that she had worked as an office accountant for J.C. Penney. She was a member of Irvington Presbyterian Church in Indianapolis and VASA, a Swedish American Club, and an avid supporter of Civic Theatre, Lafayette Symphony Orchestra, and Lafayette Citizens Band Concerts.
Surviving are her daughters Eleen Svanas (husband, Greg) of Cincinnati, OH and Johanna "Jo" Gelfand (husband, Saul) of Lafayette, a sister Virginia McGriffin of Grand Junction CO, and two grandchildren, Esley Svanas of Washington, D.C. and Geoffrey Svanas of Denver, CO. She was preceded in death by siblings, Ruth Miller, Robert Miller, Margaret Shumway, R. Paul Miller and John Miller.
A memorial service will take place at Irvington Presbyterian Church, 55 Johnson Avenue, Indianapolis, IN on Monday, May 13. Visitation will be in the church parlor from 4-6 p.m., and the memorial service will begin in the church sanctuary at 6 p.m., the Rev. Dr. Galen Schwarz officiating.
