Evelyn Margaret Douthit
Evelyn Margaret Douthit, 72, of West Lafayette, passed away on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at Creasy Springs Health Campus.
She was born on February 22, 1942 in Lafayette to the late Elmer William Buck and Annie Jane (Gray) Buck. Evelyn graduated from Klondike High School in 1960.
On August 14, 1966, she married Richard Clark "Dick" Douthit in Lafayette at the First Christian Church; he preceded her in death on August 11, 2009.
Evelyn worked as a clerk for Purdue University
from 1984 to 2002. She previously worked at Tecumseh Middle School from 1977 to 1984 and for Eagle Lumber from 1960 to 1966.
She was a member of First Christian Church. Evelyn enjoyed traveling and loved to spend time with her family.
Surviving are her children, Richard Douthit (wife: Joyce) of Plainfield, Deborah Johnson (husband: Matthew) of West Lafayette, and William Douthit (wife: Jennifer) of Lafayette; brothers, Robert Buck (companion: Becky) of Lafayette and Frank Buck (wife: Meg) of South Bend; a sister, Anita Douthit of Lafayette; grandchildren, Lucas, Anna, Samuel, Conner, and Elijah; and a nephew and several nieces.
She was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Jack Douthit and a sister-in-law, Marilyn Douthit.
Private Family Services will be held on Monday, March 10th at Fisher Funeral Chapel with Pastor Chet Martin. Interment will be in Grand View Cemetery, West Lafayette.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Elizabeth Hospice or to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in memory of Evelyn.
