Frances "Fran" Borrego Butcher

Frances "Fran" Borrego Butcher, 52, of West Lafayette, passed away on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at IU University Hospital in Indianapolis.

Born November 10, 1961, she was the daughter of the late Daniel Borrego and the late Felisiana Estrada Borrego. Fran married James "Jim" Butcher on February 10, 1995 in Lafayette. He survives.

Fran graduated from Burlington Community High School in 1979. She worked as an inspector at Ball Corp. in Monticello for the last 14 years.

Frances loved her family, and greatly enjoyed spending time with them. In her free time, Fran liked to fish, kayak, hike, camp, and watch football. She was a fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Dallas Cowboys. She enjoyed cooking, eating, drinking, and being merry.

With her husband, Fran is survived by a daughter, Anna DiMartino of Burlington, Iowa; two sons, Stephen Lee Thornton and David Butcher, both of Lafayette; one brother, Teodoro Borrego of Anamosa, Iowa; one sister, Eloisa Morales of Brownsville, Texas; and three grandchildren, Nadia DiMartino, Izel Smothers, and Olive Lyn Butcher.

Fran was preceded in death by two sisters, Maria Borrego and Elvira Aramboro, and by four brothers, Daniel, Jessie, Antonio, and Gonzalo Borrego.

Services and a wake will be held at a later date in Burlington, Iowa.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Wilderness Society (1615 M St. NW Washington, DC 20036) in memory of Fran.
