H. Irene Robinson, 73
H. Irene (Dickson) Robinson peacefully passed away on Tuesday, November 20, 2012, at Brighton Gardens Assisted Living Facility in Dunwoody, Ga., from stroke-related illnesses. Irene was born on July 27, 1939, in Lafayette, to the late Melvin W. and Helen (Goodin) Dickson. She graduated from Lafayette Jefferson High School in 1957, and in 1958, she completed her training from the House of James Cosmetology in Indianapolis.
On December 15, 1972, she married Richard (Dick) Robinson in Lafayette. He preceded her in death on June 9, 2010.
She worked for many years as a hairdresser at the Beauty Walk in Market Square before opening the Capri Beauty Salon in MarJean Village in the early 1970's, until she sold it in 1990.
In the early 1990's, Irene and Dick relocated to Sebring, Fla., where she continued her hobbies of knitting, reading, gardening, and playing lots of golf, and entertaining friends. In Lafayette, she was a member of Congress Street Church and became a member of St. John Methodist church in Sebring.
Irene is survived by her birth son Daniel Sloan (wife: Kelly) of Dunwoody, Ga., and step-daughter Jennifer Fortner (husband: Jeffery) of Plano, Ill. Also surviving are grandchildren, Sydney, Andrew, and Luke Sloan; step-grandson Richard Ricks; and step-great-grandchildren, Michael and Samantha Rick; brothers M. Leon Dickson (wife: Kay) of Lafayette, and Robert (Bob) (wife: Terry) of Meridian, Idaho. 5 nieces and nephews also survive.
A memorial visitation will be held at Soller-Baker Funeral Home on Saturday January 12, 2013; from 2 to 4 p.m.
