Hazel M. Dagley, 97

Hazel M. Dagley, 97, of Lafayette, died at 2:30 a.m. Saturday, December 8, 2012, at St. Elizabeth East Hospital of Lafayette.

She was born July 1, 1915, in Wayne County, Kentucky to the late Hiram Elmer and Esther (Bell) Davenport. She graduated from high school in 1932 in Monticello, Ky.

Her marriage was to Shellie Dagley on August 29, 1936. He preceded her in death on December 1, 1995.

She was a homemaker and a member of Chalmers Community Church.

Hazel and her husband enjoyed raising and showing quarter horses and trail riding. She also enjoyed cooking, spending time with her family and taking care of others. Even when she was in the nursing home, she was always trying to help the other residents.

Surviving are three daughters, Carolyn Marsell of Ruskin, Fla., Alice Kay (husband: Everett), of Cedar Lake, Ind. and Linda Hoffine (husband: Tom), of West Lafayette.

Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son; Robert Dagley; three brothers; four sisters; a son-in-law, Jerry Marsell; and a granddaughter, Martine Brettnacher.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, December 11, 2012, at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home of Brookston. Funeral services will be held there at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 12, 2012, Pastor Bill Henderson officiating. Interment will be held at 2 p.m. at Armstrong Cemetery in Green Hill.

Memorial donations may be made in her name to Chalmers Community Church.
