Hazel I. Riley, 93, of Lafayette passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at St. Mary's Health Care in Lafayette. Born on June 15, 1920 in Lafayette, she was the daughter of the late Roy Wininger and the late Nola Campbell Wininger. She was married on August 26, 1938 to Donald E. Riley. He preceded her in death on April 28, 1999. Hazel lived in Lafayette her whole life, spending the winter months in Fort Myers, Florida after her retirement. She was a lifelong member of the Schuyler Avenue Wesleyan Church. She was a very loving and caring wife, mother, and friend who enjoyed sharing everything she had with everyone. Hazel is survived by her daughter, Joni (Bill) Dykhuizen of Lafayette; her son, Donald "Doc" Riley, of Lafayette; son-in-law, Dick Whitehead of Lafayette; eight grandchildren, Eric Whitehead (Charla), Angie Clark (companion Dennis) , Carrie Jo Stacy (Chris), Sarah Miller, Gale Riley, Adam Dykhuizen, Brad Dykhuizen, and Calvin Dykhuizen; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Jane Whitehead; her sister, Shirley Burns; and two brothers, Forest and Leroy Wininger. The family would like to thank Dr. Kirk Schleck for his excellent care over the years. Also, Serenity Hospice and to each and every one at St. Mary's Health Care who worked so hard to give Hazel the best care anyone could ask for - Love you all. A memorial graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 21, 2014 at Grandview Cemetery on Salisbury Street in West Lafayette with Pastor Alan Connley officiating.
