Henrietta C. Anthrop McDowell, 99

Henrietta Clara Anthrop McDowell, 99, of West Lafayette, died at 9:15 p.m. Thursday, January 31, 2013, in her residence.

She was born December 19, 1913, in Lafayette, to the late Henry and Ellen Weiner Anthrop. She attended Klondike High School. Growing up she helped on the family farm and with her father would sell vegetables from a horse buggy on the Lafayette court house square. On May 1, 1940 she married Walter Lee McDowell and he passed away on November 8, 1973. Mrs.

McDowell worked at the Cinema West Theater for twenty-two years as a cashier and previously at Morris Bryant's Knike and Fork Restraunt.

Mrs. McDowell enjoyed gardening, flowers, birds and nature, along with spending time with her family. She was a founding member of the Church of the Blessed Sacrament. She was involved in several organizations- president of the St Rita Study Club, Ladies of Charity, many church activities and Rural Route Tours Travelers.

Surviving are her daughter, Connie Ann McDowell Vogel (husband Bill), Lafayette; three sons, Joseph Lee McDowell (wife Irma), Dennis Dale McDowell and Stanley Thomas McDowell (wife Kathy), all of West Lafayette; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Charlene Sue McDowell Cash and sisters Elanor A. Voergel and Laura Paul.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Monday at Soller-Baker West Lafayette chapel with a rosary at 5 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Church of The Blessed Sacrament, Fr. Bob Klemme officiating.

Burial at St. Boniface Cemetery
