WILLIAMSPORT — Jackie Dean Hushaw, 80, Williamsport, passed away at his home in Williamsport, on Sunday, June 16, 2013, at 8:45 p.m. after battling cancer for the past two years.

Jackie was born in Fountain County, Indiana, on August 6, 1932. He was the son of the late Howard and Fernie Gertrude (Schmidt) Hushaw. Jackie grew up in Shawnee Township of Fountain County and graduating from Attica High School. While living near Attica, Jackie worked at Harrison Steel Castings Company in the Housing Department. He later moved to Phoenix, AZ and lived there for 18 years. While living in Phoenix, Jackie was a carpenter.

Jackie was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army. At the time of his honorable discharge he had attained the rank of Corporal (T). In his early years, Jackie enjoyed squirrel hunting and bowling. He later enjoyed being near the water by fishing and boating.

On March 6, 1952, Jackie married Carol June Stultz in Williamsport. She preceded him in death on July 24, 2008.

Jackie leaves behind his daughter, Sherryl Lynn Bittle, Williamsport and Jeffrey Hushaw, Columbus, OH; six grandchildren, Jeffrey Allen Hushaw, Jr., Casie Cleota Hushaw, Kandice Marie Hushaw, Christina Lynn Bittle, Eric Wayne Lane and Justin Richard Bittle; fourteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his half brother, Richard (wife-Ercie) Wilson and an infant sister.

A memorial gravesite service with military honors will be held in the Riverside Cemetery, Attica, on Saturday, June 29nd at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Bob Elness officiating.
