James Laffoon

James Edward "Mike" Laffoon, 78

James Edward "Mike" Laffoon, age 78, of Morocco, Ind., passed away Saturday, November 9, 2013 at the Jasper County Hospital. Mike was born August 30, 1935 in Colfax Township, Newton County, Indiana, the son of Eddie M. (Kielmeier) and Edward Laffoon, both deceased.

Mike, a skilled machinist, worked for Sealy Springs in Rensselaer for 17 years before his retirement.

On December 30, 1953, in Mt. Ayr, Indiana, Mike married Wilma Jean Yoder who passed away August 4, 2002.

Mike was a member of the Sons of the American Legion, Rensselaer Moose Lodge #2272 and the Southern Lake County Conservation Club. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a regular around the Willow Slough Game Preserve.

Mike is survived by three daughters, Cynthia (Shane) Patterson of Kentland, Ind.; Cathy (Gene) Troyer and Lisa (Dean) Miller both of Middlebury, Ind.; LaVerne Rush, his Significant Other; two brothers, Wayne (Vivian) Laffoon and Sherman "Pat" (Jan) Laffoon, both of Middlebury, Ind; 11 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Wilma, a daughter, Renee Marcotte, 3 sisters, 5 brothers and one granddaughter.

Friends may call at the Jackson Funeral Chapel of Rensselaer on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 from 4:00 -8:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held at Jackson Funeral Chapel of Rensselaer on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens of Rensselaer. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rensselaer Moose Lodge.
