Jerry Lee Ward, 73

Jerry Lee Ward, 73, of Brookston, went to be with the Lord at 7:59 a.m. Monday, May 6, 2013 at St. Elizabeth East Hospital of Lafayette surrounded by his loving wife and family.

He was born June 4, 1939 in Linden to the late Herman Lester and Ida Pearl (Rissler) Ward. He graduated from Southwestern High School in 1957 and attended Lockyear College, where he received his health administrator license.

His marriage was to Constance Louise "Connie" Morrison on May 2, 1958 at Romney United Methodist Church. She survives.

He grew up in Romney, he also lived in Crawfordsville, and moved to Brookston seven years ago. Jerry worked for his father's trucking business, was a policeman, went on to be the Administrator at the Montgomery County Home for twenty-one years, and he retired as a civilian employee from the Lafayette, Indiana State Police Post after eleven years of service.

Jerry was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church and had also attended Wea Ridge Baptist Church. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and was an avid supporter and listener of American Family Radio and Jack Van Impe Ministries.

The most important thing to Jerry was his family, he loved them and cherished spending time with them, which was time well spent. He also enjoyed woodworking, carpentry, gardening and studying his Bible.

Surviving with his wife are three children: Terri Lee Ward of Romney, Eddie Lee Ward (wife: Debra) of Lafayette and Jeffrey Lee Ward (wife: Monica) of Brookston; and one sister: Patricia Lasley (husband: Wayne) of Romney. Also surviving are six grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren whom Jerry adored.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandchild, Randy Lee Ward.

Friends may call from 6:00 p.m. until the time of memorial service at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 9, 2013 at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home of Brookston with Pastor Mike Vauters officiating.
