Lois Jean Sims, 84

Lois Jean Sims, 84, Otterbein, passed away peacefully after a brief illness, at St. Elizabeth Central, on Monday, January 7, 2013. She was born, in Warren County, on January 14, 1928, to the late F. Linden and Edith L. (Dawson) Fleenor. She graduated from Otterbein High School, as Valedictorian of the class of 1946. She married Kenneth Sims, December 24, 1947, in Otterbein; he died, March 7, 2008. She had worked as a Postal Clerk at the Otterbein Post Office and retired as the Registration Supervisor in the Bursar's office at Purdue University. She enjoyed sports, particularly Benton Central, Purdue, Pacers and Colts. She also enjoyed anything going on with her Children, Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren, sewing, crafts, singing playing the piano, yodeling and gardening. She was a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church and Beulah Chapter 102, Order of Eastern Star.

Surviving are 2 daughters, Sharon (Jerry) Whybrew, Monticello and Deb Glover, Lafayette; Son, Dave (Gigi) Sims, West Lafayette; 8 Grandchildren, Ryan (Jenna) Whybrew, Nathan (Sarah) Whybrew, Erin (Will) Ellis, Britton (Shanan) Sims, Brianne (Ryan) Carroll, Brooke Sims, Christian Glover and Kegan Glover; 10 Great-Grandchildren, Kyle Clark, Lucas Sims, Owen Sims, Ella Sims, Egan Ellis, Eleanor Ellis, Tucker Whybrew, Tessa Whybrew, Anna Whybrew and Alexis Carroll; she was looking forward to the birth of 2 more Great-Grandchildren in July; Sister, Marjorie Weigle, Lafayette; and Sister-in-Law, Fern Sims, West Lafayette. Son, Douglas Sims; Brother, James Fleenor and Sister, Elsie Deckard preceded her in death.

Visitation will be Thursday, January 10, 2013, from 5-8 p.m. at the Otterbein United Methodist Church, with Eastern Star service at 7:30. Funeral Service will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, January 11, 2013, at the church with her Grandson Rev. Nathan Whybrew and her Nephew Gary Sims officiating. Burial will be at Pond Grove Cemetery, Otterbein. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Otterbein United Methodist Church. Shoemaker Funeral Home, Otterbein, is assisting the family with services.
