Lucille Marie Sondgeroth Metzinger, 96
Lucille Marie Sondgeroth Metzinger, 96, of Freeland Park, passed away Thursday, April 18, 2013 at University Place, West Lafayette. She was born May 12, 1916, in Hickory Grove Township, Benton County, the daughter of the late Joseph Henry Sondgeroth and Mary Magdalena Full.
She was educated at the Academy of St Mary's in Dunnington, IN. On February 18, 1936, she married Leonard August Metzinger at St Mary's Church, Dunnington, and he preceded her in death on May 1, 1994. Lucille was a lifelong resident of the Freeland Park area and a member of St Mary's Catholic Church, Rosary Society and Catholic Order of Foresters. She was a homemaker and loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by ten children, Leonard J "Sonny" (Annette), Fowler; Jerry (Sheryl), West Lafayette; Janet Garing, Fowler; Joyce (Howard) Haynes, Ambia; Bob (Donna) Delphi; Tom (Norma) Falls Church, VA; Ron (Linda) Otterbein; Carol Musser, West Lafayette; Kay (Don) Illingworth, West Lafayette; and Steve (Carol) Independence, KY; one son-in-law, Jim Taylor, Lafayette; two sisters, Joan McIntyre, Veedersburg; Marjorie Kirsch, West Lafayette; and two sisters-in-law, Maxine Sondgeroth, Fowler; and Helen Sondgeroth, Ripley, TN. Also surviving are 47 grandchildren, 97 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard; one daughter, Pat Taylor; three sons-in-law, Glenn McDaniel, Don Garing and Gary Musser; one granddaughter, Theresa Haynes; one great-grandson, Samual Haynes; seven brothers, Leo, Justin, Raymond, Ralph, Jerry, Joe and Bob and two sisters, Sister Ralph and Helen Sondgerath.
Friends may call at St Mary's Catholic Church, Dunnington, IN on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 p.m. with Father Donald Gross and Father Robert Klemme officiating. Interment will follow in St Mary's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sacred Heart School. Shoemaker Funeral Home, Otterbein, is assisting the Family.
