Madge Render, 91
Madge Render, 91, of Lafayette, died at 1:20 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at her home after an extended illness. She was born on May 3, 1922, in Francesville, IN to the late Charles and Mame (Ahler) Weaver. She attended Hanging Grove Elementary School and graduated from Francesville High School. On November 26, 1942, she married Robert R. Render and moved to Lafayette, IN. She accompanied her husband to Texas where Bob served with the US Army Air Corps during World War II. They returned to Lafayette, where they raised five children.
Madge was a homemaker, actively involved in her children's lives, working with school organizations and acting as playground monitor. She was a member of the Christian Family Movement (CFM) which supported foreign exchange students at Purdue and sponsored relocation of immigrant families to the United States. She was involved in a project of the US Department of Agriculture at Purdue University
, worked as secretary at National Homes Corporation, and worked in sales at Loeb's Department Store. She was an avid golfer, and booster for both Central Catholic High School and Purdue University Sports. She will be missed.
She is survived by daughters, Patricia Watts of Morgantown, IN; Sue Render and Jan Kirkpatrick of Lafayette; Ann Stevens (Michael) of Tampa, FL; son, Bo Render (Julie) of Littleton Colorado; 9 grandchildren, Jennifer Watts and Amy (Brock) Girtman; Eric (Kelley) and Daniel Kirkpatrick; Nick (Krystal) Thomas; Brittany, Robbie and Bradley Render; Sarah Stevens, and 4 great-grandchildren, Coen and Liam Kirkpatrick, Riley Girtman, and Oliver Thomas. Also surviving are one sister, Rosamond (Rosie) Pfledderer; and one brother, Charles (Bud) Weaver of Francesville, IN. She was preceded in death by her husband; 1 grandchild, Sean Kirkpatrick; brothers, Edmund, Wilfred, Leonard, and John; sisters, Lucille, Mary, Pauline and Jane.
