Marcia Jean Jones
Marcia Jean Jones, 87, of West Lafayette, passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2013 at IU Arnett Hospital.
Jean was born on December 23, 1925 in Noblesville, Indiana to the late Melvin "Rusty" Mallery and Edith Hiatt Mallery.
She graduated from Crawfordsville High School in 1944 and received her B.S. from Purdue University
On May 5, 1947, Jean married Gordon Frederick Jones in Crawfordsville; he preceded her in death on February 21, 1991.
Jean taught 4th grade at Burtsfield Elementary for 3 years, she then worked as a clerk for LS Ayres, retiring in 1990.
She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, Purdue Alumni Association, Edgewood Club, Phi Mu Sorority. Jean volunteered at Arnett Clinic, where she served coffee and tea to the patients. She also baked pies and took in Beanie Babies for the employees. She enjoyed watching sports and collecting silver spoons.
Jean is survived by her children, Judy Felthoff (husband: Ben) of Lafayette, Marcia Brooks (husband: Larry) of Romney, and Gary T. Jones (wife: Kathy) of West Lafayette. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 12, 2013 at St. John's Episcopal Church (600 Ferry Street, Lafayette, IN) with Father Bradley Pace officiating. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Entombment will follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens, West Lafayette.
Memorial Donations may be made to St. John's/LUM Food Pantry or to St. John's Jubilee Christmas Project at St. John's Episcopal Church 600 Ferry Street, Lafayette.
