Nina Stonebraker

Nina E. Stonebraker, 90

Nina E. Stonebraker, 90, of Brookston, passed away at 12:50 p.m. Saturday, November 2, 2013 at White Oak Health Campus of Monticello.

She was born November 16, 1922 in Boone County to the late Henry J. and Edna (McMullen) Swift and was a graduate of Lebanon High School.

Her first marriage was to Garold McMindes whom she later divorced. She married Carl "Stoney" Stonebraker in 1946 and was married to him for 25 years until his passing in 1971.

Mrs. Stonebraker was a homemaker and hard worker. When she was younger she worked for Alcoa, Brown Rubber, Farmers Forage and Duncan Meter.

Nina loved spending time with her family and was the one that organized and held them together through the years. She enjoyed traveling, the outdoors and her flowers, especially her roses.

Surviving are two sons: Jerry McMindes (wife: Ann) of Battle Ground and Richard Stonebraker (wife: Leslie) of Chalmers; three step-daughters, Marilyn Cervilla of Chanhassen, MN, Mary Kirchgessner of Chanhassen, MN and Patricia Weaver (husband: Harvey) of Hart, MI; two step-sons, Carl Stonebraker (wife: Maxine) of Reelsville, IN and Robert Stonebraker of Shelbyville, TN and her brother, Byron Swift of Hillsboro, IN.

Also surviving are many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death with her parents and husband is a sister, Violet Moser; a brother, Marvin Swift; a granddaughter and a grandson.

Friends may call from 12p.m. (noon) until the time of funeral service at 2p.m. Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home of Brookston. Burial to follow in Pretty Prairie Cemetery, Battle Ground.

Memorials may be given to the Brookston United Methodist Church.
