Orla "Pete" Johns, 88

Orla "Pete" Johns, 88, of Monticello (Carroll County), passed away September 9th, at his daughter's home in Rockfield, surrounded by his family.

He was born January 14, 1925, in White County, to the late Samuel Elmer and Goldia (Raines) Johns. On November 6, 1947, in Monticello, he married Violet M. Wesley. She survives.

Pete was the owner/operator of "Pete's Bait & Tackle" in rural Yeoman (Carroll County), for over forty-five (45) years.

He was a United States World War II Navy Veteran.

Surviving are wife, Violet M. Johns of Monticello (Carroll County); children, Roy (Helen) Johns of Monticello (Carroll County), Linda (Rick) Cope of Kokomo, Rebecca (Randy) Myers of Rockfield, Nancy (Alan) Nies of Star City, Judy Johns of Kokomo, and Allen Johns of Poquoson, Virginia; 21 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; brother, Earl Johns of Alabama; and sister, Gertrude Johns of Greenfield.

Son, Jerry Wayne Johns; 3 brothers; and 2 sisters preceded Pete in death.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., September 12th, at the Miller - Roscka Funeral Home of Monticello. Celebration of Life Service will be at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m., September 13th.

Burial with Full Military Rites will be at the Yeoman Cemetery, Yeoman.

Memorials may be given to the Grace Community Baptist Church of Monticello.
