Patricia A. Cole, 88
Patricia A. (Cahill) Cole, 88, of Lafayette, passed away at 11:40 a.m., on Tuesday, November 27, 2012, at Rosewalk Village. Born April 8, 1924, in Lafayette, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Selma (Hinterlang) Cahill.
Patricia married Richard E. Cole and they were married for 53 years. He preceded her in death in 1998. She worked as the desk clerk at the former Howard Johnson Hotel and for 20 years at the Village Pantry at 9th and South Streets before retiring. She was a former member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church and volunteered at St. Elizabeth Hospital, where she was in charge of the gift cart. She was a member of American Legion Post #11. Pat never met a stranger and she enjoyed reading and dancing.
Surviving are her daughter, Cheryl Mathew (companion, William Cadwallader), of Lafayette, her son, Daniel Michael "Mike" Cole (wife, Glenna), of Indianapolis; and a sister, Delores "Dee" Farrell of Jeffersonville. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Melissa Whitus, Brett Mathew, Jennifer Cvar, and Daniel Michael "Mikey" Cole II; and one great-grandchild, Mylee Whitus. She was preceded in death by a son, Theodore "Ted" Cole; two brothers, Robert and Jimmy Cahill; a sister, Gloria Cahill, and her beloved mother-in-law, Lillian Cole.
The family will receive friends, Friday, at Hippensteel Funeral Home from 1-2 p.m., with the funeral service at 2 p.m. Celebrant Carla Ellis officiating.
