Phyllis Jean Hayes Clawson, 87
Phyllis Jean Hayes Clawson, 87, of rural Delphi, died Sat.-Mar. 15, 2014 at 7am at her home. She was born May 23, 1926 in Monroe Co., IN, to the late Tom & Myrtle Robinson Hayes. Her marriage was to Herbert L. Clawson in the Hickory Grove Church Parsonage on Feb. 19, 1965, and he survives. She attended Oolitic High School, and lived there until moving to Bedford in 1938, then moved to White Co., in 1952, then to Carroll Co., in 1967, where she has since lived.
She worked at the Green Gables in Reynolds, the Monticello Country Club, the Pirates Roost, and Captain Logan's Hotel in Logansport. In 1982 she started Phyllis Clawson Travel Club, until retiring due to health in Dec. 2013. She took her traveler's to every state in the United States, Hawaii & Alaska. If someone asked her where she had traveled to, she would say "I've been around the world." Her husband, family, and clients, were the loves of her life.
Surviving: husband-Herbert L. Clawson of Delphi; daughters: Pam Hardesty, partner James Bemrose of Delphi, Connie Westerhouse of Lafayette, Tonda & Bob Lahti of Daggett, MI, Lorri & Kevin Hinton of Monticello, adopted daughter Becky Caldwell of Lafayette. Grandchildren: Tina; Phillip; Tracy; Rodney; Michelle; Matt; Jami; D.R.; Jeffrey; Jacob; Alli; Nolan; Shontell; Ashley; Chelsea. Great-grandchildren: Aaron; Alicia; Kayla; Ryan; Cai; Seth; Shelbi; Kirsten; Cortney; Laura; Josie; Kinsey; Kenna; Griffin; Micah; Olivia; Lynn; Braxton; Jordyn; Chevvi; Eli. Great-great-grandson: Jeiden. Preceded by 6 brothers, 3 sisters, 2 inf. brothers, 1 nephew. Services: Friends may call Thursday from 2-5pm at Abbott Funeral Home-Delphi. Herb & Family, I remember Phyllis & you worked at the Pirate's Roost with my late husband Jim Gibson. You were an amazing couple, full of life & great to know.
