Richard Charles Harness, 90

Richard Charles Harness, 90, passed away at 7:30 pm on Thursday, August 22, 2013 at IU Arnett Hospital in Lafayette, IN. He was born on February 23, 1923 in Carroll County, IN to Harry M. And Mildred (Humes) Harness. On December 31, 1947 he married Jane L. Oyler and she survives.

Richard was a 1941 graduate of Burlington High School. He was a Master Sergeant in the Army and served during WW II. Richard was a farmer all of his life and loved riding his Harley motorcycle. He was a member of Church of Christ.

Survivors include wife Jane Harness of Frankfort; children Tonya C. (Michael) Dorsey of Willington, OH, Stephen R. (Mona) Harness of Frankfort, Kevin L. (Janice) Harness of Frankfort, Kenrick J. Harness of Cutler, Deanna L. (Bradley) Hayden of Flora, Marla J. (Joe) Metzger of Rossville, Barry C. (Mary) Harness of Frankfort, Karma J. Woodward of Flora; twenty one grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Preceded in death by his parents and one grandson.

Graveside services will be held at 10 am on Monday, August 26, 2013 at Geetingsville Cemetery with military rites. Friends may call from 5 to 8 pm on Sunday at Stout & Son Funeral Home Neptune Chapel at 44 Michigan St. in Burlington. Online condolences may be left at www.stoutandson.com.
