Ruth H. Comingore

Ruth Holden Comingore, 92, passed away, Feb. 17, 2014 in Shelbyville, Indiana. Born Jan. 1, 1920, in Peterborough, New Hampshire, Ruth was the second of three children (Dorothy, Ruth and Elizabeth) of Richard and Marjorie Upham Holden. On October 9, 1942, while a student at Purdue University, Ruth married Daniel Fredrick Comingore who pre-deceased her in 1993. Ruth and Dan lived in Waynetown, Indiana over 50 years beginning in 1949 where they made their home and raised their family. Ruth was active in the Waynetown Methodist Church, Psi Iota Xi Sorority and the Maplegrove Home Economics Club of Waynetown.

Ruth returned to Purdue University in 1963 obtaining both her teaching credentials and a Master's Degree in Education. Ruth taught Home Economics at South Montgomery High School, New Market, Indiana from 1964 until her retirement in 1984.

Following her retirement, Ruth and Dan wintered in Florida. In 2010, Ruth relocated to Shelbyville, Indiana. Ruth is survived by children Daniel Philip (Sharon Larew) Comingore, Madras, OR, Paul Thomas/Pat (Gloria Redding) Comingore, Waynetown, IN, Richard Frederick (Linda Huhn) Comingore, Rensselaer, IN and Cathy Ann (Gary) Egolf, Peru, IN, eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, her sister Dorothy and Ruth's longtime friend, Samuel E. Phillips. She is pre-deceased by her husband Dan, grandson Alex Egolf and sister Elizabeth "Beeba" Karpick.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Waynetown Masonic Cemetery, Waynetown, Indiana where her cremains will be laid to rest with Dan. A gathering of friends and family will follow at Tremaine Park in Waynetown. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the or Alzheimer's Foundation of America.
