Stephen H. "Steve" Bateman, 57, of rural Rossville, passed away at 3:05 p.m. Tuesday, October 22, 2013 in his home surrounded by his family. Born April 21, 1956 in Lafayette, he was the son of the late Herben and Mildred Juanita (Keene) Bateman. His marriage was on May 21, 2004 in Lafayette to Pamela S. Brann and she survives. Steve had worked as an over the road truck driver for various trucking companies before retiring in 2006 due to his declining health. He was a member of the Teamsters Local in Lafayette. Steve enjoyed watching football and baseball, especially teams from the state of Georgia including the Atlanta Braves baseball team.
Surviving with his wife, Pamela, is one daughter, Jessica Bateman Wilson of Rossville, three step-children, Jodi Scott (husband, Robert) of Lafayette, Nancy Boggs (husband, James) of Frankfort, and Steven Rolan of rural Rossville, two sisters, Catherine Wilshire and Sandra Bateman both of California, two brothers, Larry Bateman (wife, Sally) of West Point and James Evans (wife, Joyce) of Arizona, and members of the Randolph Family. Steve is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters. In the words that Steve would say to his family and friends, "Are you done yet?"
