Thelma L. Benner, 74
FOWLER - Thelma L. Benner, 74, Fowler, died Monday, January 14, 2013, at St. Elizabeth East, Lafayette. She was born August 24, 1938, to the late Matthew and Anna Kline Benner. Thelma graduated from Earl Park High School in 1956. She was a secretary at Freeland, McGinnis, Lauerman, Insurance Co. for 36 years, and a co-owner for the last eight years, retiring at the end of 1999.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, St. Anne Society, Euchristic Minister, and served as a R.C.I.A. director. Also a member of Tri-Kappa; Fowler Omicron Chapter, serving as an officer on state and local levels, a serenity hospice volunteer coordinator, and served in many community organizations as an officer over the years.
Survivors are one sister, Darlene Carter, of Danville, Ill., and one brother, Leon Benner, of Lafayette; six nephews and one niece; five great-nephews and six great-nieces; and 5 great-great-nephews and nieces. Preceded in death by one sister, Helen.
Rosary at 4 p.m., with visitation to follow until 7 p.m., Thursday, January 17, 2013, at Windler Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday, January 18, 2013, at Sacred Heart Church. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Earl Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Sacred Heart School and Fowler Serenity Hospice Foundation.
