Thurman Junior Osburn, 88

Thurman Junior Osburn, 88, of Rensselaer, passed away Friday November 16, 2012, at the Rensselaer Care Center. Thurman was born in Rensselaer on July 31, 1924, the son of Thurman Osburn and Anna (Peek) Osburn. He was a lifetime resident other than living in Casper, Wyo., from 1948-1951. Thurman farmed in Morocco from 1951 until 1985.

Thurman attended the North Newton Township School and was a 1941 graduate of Rensselaer High School. He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Thurman was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Rensselaer, the American Legion Post #29, Rensselaer and the Masonic Lodge No. 372 F. & A.M., Morocco.

His marriage was in Rensselaer on March 23, 1947, to Genevieve Louise Warne who passed away August 14, 1999.

Thurman is survived by his son, Robert (wife Patricia) Osburn, Jefferson City, Mo,; daughter, Christy (husband Rick) Fisher, Rensselaer; 3 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and his special friend, Joann Watt, Rensselaer. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a grandson, Timothy Brian Osburn and his sister, Ruth Basket.

Friends will be received by the family on Sunday, November 18, 2012, from 2-5 p.m., at the Jackson Funeral Chapel of Rensselaer where Masonic Lodge services will be held at 4:30 p.m. Funeral services will be on Monday, November 19, 2012, at 10:30 a.m., at the Jackson Funeral Chapel of Rensselaer with Pastor Randy Gann officiating. Burial will follow at Weston Cemetery, Rensselaer with military rites. The family suggests memorials to Macular Degeneration Research or other eye support foundation in memory of Thurman.
