William E. Davis, 79

William E."Bill" Davis, 79, Lafayette, passed away at 4:37 p.m. Monday, January 21, 2013, at St. Elizabeth East Hospital. He was born February 22, 1933, in Lafayette, and raised in the Knightstown Children's Home. Bill honorably served in the Navy from 1952 to 1956 and fought in the Korean Conflict.

His marriage was to Catherine Baker on May 8, 1961, in Lafayette and she survives. Bill was an electrician with Union Local 668 IBEW for 42 years before retiring. He was a member of American Legion Post 11 and Lafayette Woodcarvers. Bill enjoyed gardening, flowers, photography and woodcarving.

Surviving with his wife are two sons, Terry Davis (wife, Donna) of Jefferson City, Tenn. and William Davis, Jr. (wife, Allison) of San Antonio; two daughters, Susan Freeman (husband, Urey) of Eddyville, Ky. and Patricia Henson (fiancé, Dan Westfall) of Lafayette; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from noon until the 1 p.m., funeral service Friday in Hippensteel Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Johnson officiating.
