Jane E. Ziegler, 90

Jane E. (Jewett) Ziegler, 90, of Lafayette, died at 5:00 p.m. Saturday, April 27, 2013 at St. Mary Healthcare Center where she had made her home for the past three years. Born April 14, 1923 in Hammond, IN, she was the daughter of the late Lee R. and Josie W. (DeRolf) Jewett. Jane was raised in the Hammond area, had lived in Lafayette attending Lafayette Jefferson High in 1940 and 1941, returning to Hammond and graduating from Hammond High School in 1942. Her marriage was on September 7, 1946 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Lafayette to Paul E. Ziegler and he preceded her in death on October 6, 2001. Prior to her marriage, Jane had worked at Sears and Roebuck in Hammond and at Haywood Publishing in Lafayette. Jane had also worked at Alcoa, Rostone, Purdue University, and at the Lafayette Journal and Courier. Jane was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church and formerly a member of St. Lawrence Senior Citizens, the American Legion Auxiliary Post #11, St. Ann's Alter and Aid Society, the Women of the Moose Chapter #796, the GBU German Club, and the Girls' Birthday Club.

Jane is survived by her four children, Carolyn Stingley (husband, Tom) of Lafayette, Beverly Ziegler (husband, Lance Lund) of Rochester, NY, William Ziegler of Lafayette, and Lorraine Myer (husband, Randy) of Lafayette, 4 grandchildren, Tony (Joyce) Mathews of Houston, TX, Cody (Lisa) Mathews of Frankfort, IN, Freya (fiancé, Adam Zielinski) Lund of Philadelphia, PA, and Spencer (friend, Rebecca Greenberg) Lund of Brooklyn, NY, and 6 great-grandchildren, Megan, Ashley, Austin, Scotlynn, Cy, and Logan Mathews. Jane was preceded in death by one brother, Robert (Midge) Jewett, and one sister, Marian (Al) VanDame.

Recitation of the Rosary 5 p.m. Friday with visitation to follow till 9 p.m Friday at Hippensteel Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church with Fr. Dan Gartland and Fr. Ambrose Ziegler con-celebrating. Burial to follow at St. Boniface Cemetery.
