John Webb Obituary
John David Webb, 66 of Lafayette, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on the evening of February 27, 2015.
Born July 7, 1949 in Lafayette, he was the son of Ella Louise (Sanders) Webb of Lafayette and the late John E. Webb.
Dave was a 1967 graduate of Lafayette Jefferson High School.
Dave worked in construction for HD Williams of Shadeland, John E. Webb, Inc., Webb and Associates, Tippecanoe County Maintenance Director where he oversaw the Courthouse restoration in 1991, H. L. Mohler and Associates, director of construction and maintenance, and M.A.R.T. Industries. After retiring in 2008 he worked part-time for Lafayette School Corporation as a school crossing guard at the intersections of 4th and Fairmont St. and 18th and Cason Streets until mid 2014.
Dave was a graduate of the first EMT class held in Tippecanoe County and a past member of Union Township/Shadeland Fire Dept, where he served as a Firefighter 1st Class/EMT and held the rank of Lieutenant. His memberships included; Master Mason of West Lafayette Lodge #724, Tippecanoe Past Masters Association, living historian with the 42nd Royal Highland Regiment, Grenadier Company since 1999, National Rifle Association NRA and National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association NMLRA, Tippecanoe Steam and Gas Power Association, and a life member of the F.O.P., Arman Lodge #49. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trapping and camping. He was certified NRA, NMLRA, and 4-H shooting sports instructor for youth and Indiana Hunter Ed instructor. Dave was an avid gardener, historian, blacksmith, whitesmith, and woodright.
Surviving with his mother are his children, Martin R. Webb (wife, Kim) of Lafayette and Holly Johnson (husband, Cecil) of Battle Ground and Mindy Webb (fiancé Adam Moore) of Lafayette. two brothers Daniel W. Webb (wife, Beth) of Pelzer, SC and Joseph K Webb (wife, Ottie) of Veedersburg, his companion Irma Lucid of Lafayette and her son Jake Lucid (wife, Beth) of Indianapolis, and her grandchild, Elee Lucid. He is preceded in death by his father John E. Webb. In Lieu of Flowers please make a donation to the Tippecanoe County 4-H Scholarship Fund.

4H Shooting Sports

We were sorry to learn of the passing of Dave Webb.
The Instructors involved with Tippecanoe County 4H Shooting Sports are well aware that John David Webb, whom we knew as Dave Webb, established this county's Shooting Sports Program in 1991. We fully understand that, without Dave Webb's dedicated efforts 24 years ago, there would not be a 4H Shooting Sports Program that now involves 100 to 175 local 4H youth every year in Tippecanoe County.
Therefore, both to honor the family's request and to honor Dave Webb's memory, Tippecanoe County 4H Shooting Sports is setting aside funds to establish the John David Webb 4H Shooting Sports Scholarship. How that scholarship will be applied will be determined by the then current Shooting Sports Instructors together with the Tippecanoe County Extension Office, with the only restriction being that it must relate to some aspect of Shooting Sports and the 4H goals for youth.

Wishing I could be with you to help comfort and support you during this time. Your dad loved you more than life and it is hard to believe that he is gone. He is flying with the eagles in search of nest to keep watch over you. He will always be by your side so feel free to call his name. When you gaze at the night sky the brightest star will be him lighting the night just for you. So sorry he left on his journey so early in life but your world has been full because he was in your lives. I love you all!!!!
