Eileen M. Skadberg

Eileen M. Skadberg, 74, of Lafayette, passed away at St. Elizabeth East Hospital on Tuesday, July 15, 2014. Born August 26, 1939 in Michigan City, IN, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Else Maria (Schumacher) Skadberg. She was a 1957 graduate of Lafayette Jefferson High School and a Purdue University graduate.

Eileen worked on the administrative staff at Purdue from 1957 until retiring from the Purchasing Dept. in 1997. She was a member of Central Presbyterian Church and served on various church committees, including personnel and sanctuary preparation. Eileen was a volunteer receptionist for the church and coordinated the scheduling of volunteer receptionists. In addition, for several years, she coordinated the Religious Arts Festival Reception at Central Presbyterian Church. She was a former member of Altrusa, the Sagamore Council of Girl Scouts, and the John Purdue Club. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, bird watching, animals, flower gardening and her yard, and spending time with her family. She was a Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed all sports.

Surviving are a sister, Ruth Davidson (husband, Jim) of rural Lafayette, twelve nieces and nephews and a multitude of great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold "Hal" Skadberg, Jr., and Robert G. Skadberg, and a nephew, Tim Davidson.

Private family graveside services were held Friday, July 18, 2014 at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens with Rev. Dr. Jeff Cover officiating. Friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of Life service on Sunday, August 24, 2014 from 3 p.m. until the services at 4 p.m. at Central Presbyterian Church.
