Kristi Kay Redmon was born April 26th, 1964 to Tom and Lynn Redmon in Lafayette, Indiana. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1982 where she was a member of the Front Runners Show Choir and performed in many plays and musicals. Kristi graduated from Purdue University in 1986 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art Education, first teaching in Western Boone School Corporation. She started teaching in Lafayette School Corporation in 1996. She taught art at Washington, Murdock, Miller, Glen Acres, and was currently teaching at Miami and Edgelea. Kristi absolutely loved teaching and especially bringing out the creativity and enjoyment of art in each and every child. Her desire to help children extended far beyond her profession. She volunteered at several vacation bible schools, after school programs, and summer camps. She had even created her own after school program "R-Team", where she helped kids with homework and did recreational art projects, and was also a part of the Hanna Center's summer program doing similar activities. She had a passion for every single child she came into contact with. Whether it was her own children, her children's friends, or her students. Many of her children's friends even referred to her as "Momma Kristi", because she was always so loving and wanted every child to feel like they were part of the family. Anyone who was friends with either her son or daughter never left her house hungry. Often times they would even be forced to leave with leftovers. Kristi also had a passion for animals; she was constantly adopting rescues and fostering kittens so they could eventually find a loving home. She loved nature, with various photographs of her hugging trees as proof. She loved music and loved to dance, Jon Bon Jovi being her favorite. She was a diehard Chicago Cubs and Bears fan, and would love singing the Bear Down Chicago Bears song after every touchdown, which were unfortunately few and far between. Kristi was always the loudest cheerleader at her son's sporting events, not caring how much it embarrassed him. She did the same, if not louder, for her daughter's gymnastic events. She had a smile and passion for life that was unmatched, with a heart of gold and a soul too pure for this world. Her legacy will live on through the thousands of children she has inspired with her passion for art, life, and love. Kristi is survived by her children Skylar Thomas Redmon of Lafayette, and Arielle Lynn-Marie Redmon of Muncie; parents Thomas and Marilyn "Lynn" Redmon; sister Kelly Arlene Wendt (husband Jim), her nieces Kiley and Claire Wendt and her nephew Blake Wendt of Zionsville. All Kristi really wanted in life was for people to have fun and live life to the fullest. Her favorite saying was "Mean people suck!". Honor her memory by being nice and smiling more. She never wanted anyone to be sad, so remember her for high heels, her sassy "I don't care what you think" attitude, and her smile that would light up a room. In lieu of flowers the family request memorial contribution to Arielle Lynn Redmon educational fund C/O Regions Bank Att/Kelly Wendt. Memorial visitation will be Wednesday Oct. 19, 2016 from 2pm until 4pm at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel with memorial service to follow at 4pm. Even though I never met Kristi, I know that she was a wonderful human being and that she will be missed. How do I know this? I know Arielle and she is a loving, caring, wonderful human being, raised by her mother and whose heart is now broken. It is such a tragedy that her life has cut short. I hope all of Kristi's loved ones will have the strength and faith to get through their grief and mend their broken hearts. You are all in my prayers.

I was one of LSC's elementary music specialist, I was assigned Glen Acres 3rd Grade Music Class. It was traditional that the 3rd Grade was assigned the November 11, Veterans Day program. We were preparing to perform the Armed Forces Medley. Every thing was pretty much set, except we did not have the five flags to display each branch of the military. So, I asked Kristi to draw each flag (I had taken photos of each flag at each of the recruiting offices). Kristi completed the project--crowding in this project with her regular scheduled activities.
As she handed the finished "products"
to me, she said (with that silly grin)
"You whole me big time, Mr. Dunn"!
