Audrey Withered Speier

Audrey Withered Speier, 82, of Aurora, Ind., and recently a resident of Creasy Springs Health Campus, Lafayette, passed away on Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at St. Elizabeth East Hospital.
She was born May 6, 1929, in Lawrenceburg, Ind., the daughter of the late Orville and Dorothy Noppert Hilker. In 1949, she married Ben Withered, Jr., and he preceded her in death in 1974. In 1978, she married Paul Speier, who died in 2008.
Audrey worked for the Alton Box Co. and Lischkge Motor Co. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and Indiana Alpha Epsilon Chapter, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She was voted 1st Lady of the Year in 1974-1975 in Recognition and Appreciation of distinguished service to her community by Beta Sigma Phi International. She enjoyed traveling with her family, sewing, and crafts.
She is survived by her six children, Jerry (Mary Jo) Withered, Lafayette; Dave (Elaine Gaul) Withered; Dan Withered, Bloomington, Ind.; Roxanne (Bob) Meyer, Versailles, Ind.; Kathy (Bobby) Cox, Carmel, Ind.; and Joe (Beth) Withered, Bedford, Texas; by her sister Betty Tyler, Aurora, Ind., her sister-in-law Charlene Inglis, Nokomis, Fla.; her nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews; her three stepdaughters, Dorothy (Bob) Althoff, Lawrenceburg; Sandy (Carl) Althoff, Fairview; and Jenny (Bob) Staley, Fort Wayne; and several stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her sisters Regina Boerst, Marilyn Faber, and Chrissy Strautman.
Friends will be received on Sunday, April 15, from 4-7 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Aurora, Ind. A celebration Mass will be held on Monday, April 16, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church or St. Mary's School, Aurora, Ind. or the
Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery, Aurora, Ind.
