Betty Lou (Sundqvist) Brown, 89, of West Lafayette, passed away March 17, 2013 at Cumberland Pointe Health Campus. Born April 15, 1923 in Warren County, she was the daughter of the late John Otto Sundqvist and Alma Biggs Sundqvist. She graduated from Pine Village High School in 1941 and attended Indiana Business College.
Betty married Carl E. Brown on April 12, 1946 in Williamsport, IN and he preceded her in death on June 30, 1997. Betty and Carl lived most of their lives in Warren County on their beloved Sunny Slope Farm. She was a homemaker and also worked part time at the county courthouse in the Auditor's and Treasurer's office and at the County Extension Office.
In her early years Betty's activities included participating in Pythian Sisters, various Pine Village School committees, Benton Central Athletic Boosters, and Warren County Republican events. She was a member of Williamsport Christian Church and was also a longtime member of the John Purdue Club.
In 2001, she moved to West Lafayette. Betty has spent her later years looking forward to visiting with family and friends, (especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren), tending to her flowers, watching her Boilermakers and enjoying her special little companion - Gus the Pug.
Surviving are her children John Brown (wife, Linda) of Monticello, Jane Horstman (husband, Larry) of West Lafayette, and Steve Brown (wife, Deb) of Clarks Hill. Also 7 grandchildren, Mark Brown, Brad Brown, Jason Brown, Joe Horstman, Amanda Spencer, Corey King, Kelsey Brown, and great-grandchildren Will, Alex, Aubrey, Christopher, Griffin and Russ. She was preceded in death by her brother John "Bud" Sundqvist.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Hippensteel Funeral Home. Funeral service 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Don Williams officiating.
