D. Maxine (Widener) Wilson, 92, of West Lafayette, passed away at 4:30 p.m. on May 16, 2013 at Westminster Village in West Lafayette. Born September 4, 1920 she was the daughter of Lacey and Bertha (Rodman) Widener. She was a graduate of Lafayette Jefferson High School and worked as the Administrative Assistant for B.L. Anderson in West Lafayette, retiring in 1995.
Maxine was a member of Monticello Christian Church where she served as Past Moderator of the Board. She was an elder and was designated as Elder Emeritus in 2002. She served as secretary to Christian Women's Fellowship, as chair of the Stewardship Committee, Elders Committee and served on various other church committees over the years. Maxine served on the Board of Directors for Westminster Village, was supervisor of the mailroom, chaired the efforts of United Way for many years as well as enjoying volunteering at the concierges desk.
Maxine is survived by her step-son William R. Wilson, Jr., and his wife Karron of Georgetown, TX, one brother, Harold Widener of Scottsdale, AZ, three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, William, who passed on July 2, 1991.
Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 20, 2013, at Hippensteel Funeral Home. Service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Gary Reif officiating. Entombment will be at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Monticello Christian Church or Westminster Village Foundation.
