Deborah Ann Cooper Obituary
Deborah A. Cooper

Deborah Ann Cooper, age 55, of Lafayette, passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 11:55 a.m. at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

Born on January 19, 1958 in Lafayette, she was the daughter of Nancy L. Osborne Cooper of Lafayette and her father, the late Donald S. Cooper, whom she dearly loved, who passed away on December 30, 2012. She was a 1976 graduate of Lafayette Jefferson High School and a graduate of St. Elizabeth School of Nursing. She was employed at the former Home Hospital as an RN for several years until her lung transplant in 1996. She was a nurse by profession and loved helping people and went so far as to learn sign language to assist patients who could not hear.

She was given new life on April 8, 1996 with a double lung transplant and never took for granted any time she was given with her family. She got to see her children grow and marry and have babies of their own. She believed in organ donation so much that she became an organ donor herself so that someone else would have the same gift that she was given. She was an inspiration to many and loved by all.

Deborah was a member of First Baptist Church. She was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha and Delta Chi Sigma Sororities, where she served various offices and state offices. She also was a member of St. Elizabeth Auxiliary and worked in crafts. She enjoyed crafts and planting flowers and was an accomplished artist.

Surviving with her mother are 2 children: Alanna Green (companion: James Campbell) of Lafayette, James E. Green, III (wife: Aubrey) of Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan, a sister: Janet L. MacLagon (husband, Don) of Lafayette and 2 grandchildren: Autumn Campbell and Riley Campbell. Also surviving is her partner in crime, her beloved dog, Tucker.

Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at Hippensteel Funeral Home. Funeral service 10 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church, with Rev. Ryan Donoho and Rev. Dr. Carl Malmgren officiating. Interment at Rest Haven Memorial Park. Hippensteel Funeral Home entrusted with care. Memorial contributions may be made to I.O.P.O. or First Baptist Church.
