Delmar K. "Lucky" Morris, 77, of rural Delphi, died Friday, Jan 11, 2013, at 9:41 p.m., at St. Elizabeth Central Hospital, Lafayette. He had been a patient there for two days and in ill health the past year.
He was born Aug. 12, 1935, in Carsville, Ky., to the late Cliffton and Vinnie Simpson Morris. His marriage was to Zarita A. McCurry, in Garrett, Ill., on July 12, 1961, and she preceded him in death on Jan. 15, 2008.
He was a 1953 graduate of Carsville High School in Kentucky and went on to work for 30 years in the maintenance department at ALCOA in Lafayette, retiring in 1996.
He was a member of the Monticello Moose Lodge 906 and an associate member of the Navy Club U.S.A. He enjoyed card games, Chicago Cubs Baseball, gardening and his beloved dog, Junior.
Surviving are his daughter, Annette (Mark) Keen, of Burlington; two sons, Archie (Judith) Gainey and James C. Morris, both of Delphi; two sisters, Hazel Tucker, of Elizabethtown, Ill., and Jean (Willie) Beecher, of Ariz.; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Stevens, and a brother.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. Wednesday until his funeral service at 1 p.m. at Abbott Funeral Home in Delphi, the Rev. Ed Selvidge officiating, with burial at IOOF Memorial Gardens in Pittsburg.
