ATTICA — Ethel Marie (Cooley) Cobble, 89, long time resident of Attica, passed away at the home of her daughter, Barbara Davis, in North Royalton, OH, on Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at 3:30 p.m.
Ethel was born in Charleston, IL, on August 24, 1923. She was the daughter of the late George Hubert and Minnie Ringo Cooley and was raised in Charleston, IL, where she graduated from Charleston High School in 1941.
On December 24, 1941, Ethel married Delbert W. Cobble in Charleston, IL. In 1951, they moved to Attica, IN, where they lived until 2011 when they moved to live with their daughter in Ohio. Delbert preceded her in death on May 25, 2012.
While living in Attica, Ethel worked as a clerk for Doug's Studio and later as a bookkeeper for Swadley Drug Store. After retirement, Ethel and Delbert wintered several years in San Juan, TX. Ethel was an active member of the Attica Free Methodist Church. Her hobbies included crafting, crocheting and reading and was an accomplished seamstress and a crossword puzzle enthusiast.
Ethel leaves behind her two daughters, Sharon (Bill) Ducommun, Littleton, CO, and Barbara (Don) Davis, North Royalton, OH; a son, Ron (Virginia) Cobble, Lakewood, CO; five grandsons, Craig (Laura) Ducommun, Phoenix, AZ; Christopher Cobble, Denver, CO; Drew Davis, North Royalton, OH; Daniel Cobble, Greeley, CO; Ethan Cobble, Lakewood, CO; three granddaughters, Angela (Mike) Bell, Harrisburg, PA; Ashley (Everett) Reiss, Philadelphia, PA; Greer Davis, Cleveland Heights, OH; three great-grandsons, Logan Bell and Eric Bell, both of Harrisburg, PA; Ash Ducommun, Phoenix, AZ; one great-granddaughter, Zamara Ducommun, Phoenix, AZ; one brother, Ron (JoAnn) Cooley, Charleston, IL. She was preceded in death by an infant son; two daughters, Jeanne Marie Cobble and Terri Jean Cobble; and four brothers, Bob Cooley, George "Cy" Cooley, Howard "Gene" Cooley and LaVern Cooley.
A memorial celebration of the life of Ethel Cobble will be held at the Attica Free Methodist Church, 301 N. Sixth St, Attica, IN, on Saturday, May 18, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jerry Badgley officiating. Inurnment will be held in the Rest Haven Memorial Park, Mattoon, IL. Contributions may be made in Ethel's memory to the Attica Free Methodist Church.
