Harold M. Cobbs, 79

Harold M. Cobbs, 79, of rural Monticello, died Thurs., Feb. 13, 2014 at 2:58pm at IU Health Arnett Hospital, Laf. He was born Aug. 26, 1934 in Bloomington, IL, to the late Meredith & Artie Fleenar Cobbs. His marriage was to Genean F. Norfleet in Lafayette, on Apr. 26, 1955, and she survives. He attended Otterbein Schools, and received his GED while in the army. He owned and operated G&H Construction for 30 years, doing general construction work. He was in the U.S. Army from 1952-1955, stationed in San Antonio, TX. He attended the Missionary Hill Baptist Church in Pittsburg. Was an avid reader, enjoyed woodworking, gardening, enjoyed baking, and loved to can his produce he raised in his garden. Surviving: wife-Genean F. Cobbs of Monticello; 4 daughters-Carla Nichols of Monticello, Diana & Dean Marion of Monticello, Sue & Rob Johnson of Delphi, Sharon & Rob Byrd of Indianapolis; son-William Cobbs of Indianapolis; 2 sisters-Mae Etta Carmichael of Delphi, Myrl Huskey of Delphi; brother-Ralph & Dorsha Cobbs of Delphi. 4 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild. Preceded in death by a son Harold; son-in-law Ed; 1 brother; 2 sisters. Services: Friends may call Wednesday from 11am until his funeral service at 1pm at Abbott Funeral Home, Delphi. Rev. John Wagner officiating, burial at Morning Heights Cemetery, Delphi, military Rites by the Carroll County Honor Guard.
