Thank you Lue for the love and care you brought into my life during my student years. You were an amazing friend and I miss you! We met at the "yellow house" when you lived in the room next to mine. You were there for me when I needed you. We had some fun travels together. Rest in peace. Knowing you, there is some laughter mixed in!

Your obit made me smile. Even in your passing you are bringing joy. I wish I would have met you. We could have been buds, or at least I could have taught you about your love for IU. Boiler Up!
Rest In Peace Lue.

I know that this is years later but in reading this I can tell the impact she had on people and her joy and personality had to be infectious. I'm sure she's not missing from the memory of those who knew her personally and she seemed like someone who was the star in the room.
Thanks for sharing your warm memories with us. Grief doesn't completely go away but we learn to cope. My prayers and thoughts are wIth your family and I hope you all will continue to endure with the peace of God.

"Lue" is Karen's middle name and the name that she told me she preferred to be called.
April 9, 2014
Lue was a good friend to me in college and afterwards. She remains an important figure in my life. She was perhaps the first of many intelligent, non-conformist and outrageous friends I've had over the years (astrology chart says that I am attracted to unusual people). Lue's sense of humor was phenomenal and helped her to get through this life sane.

Thank you, everyone! My mom said she didn't want an obit if it was going to be sad and emotional. So this is how she lived until the day she died. Please visit the legacy link at the bottom of the obit to see pictures and read more. Gonna lay down my burden, and See you down by the riverside, Mom.

I didn't know Karen but am sure she set a record for people not knowing her and commenting. She sounds like she was a free spirit and may you soar into your next life. To her survivors, don't grieve this adventurous woman but continue to love what she believed in. There is so little of that in this day and age. Blessings
