Kenneth Devon Tiede, 89, of Francesville, IN passed away at 12:30 AM Sunday, July 7, 2013 at Parkview Haven Retirement Home in Francesville. He was born on May 18, 1924 to the late John C. and Ferne Riggs Tiede. On June 26, 1949, Devon married Marjean Moncel in Francesville. She passed away July 4, 1999.
Devon was a graduate of Medaryville High School. After high school, he worked at Kingsbury Ordnance Plant and Gutwein Milling Co. Devon was the "dynamite man" for Ward Stone Co. in Francesville and went on to haul livestock for Auggie Moncel. After retirement, he enjoyed working on the farm with Big Mike.
Devon served in the US Army during WWII. He was a member of the American Legion Post #228 in Francesville.
Devon enjoyed raising roses and giving them to all the ladies in town. He was a Chicago Cubs and NASCAR fan. He also enjoyed watching his grandkids play sports.
Devon loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be dearly missed.
Survivors include: Jody (Joel) Flotow, Francesville, IN Daughter; Mike Tiede, Francesville, IN Son; Joelyn Flotow, Granddaughter; Janssen Flotow, Grandson; Jerod Tiede, Grandson; Taylor Tiede, Granddaughter.
Preceded in death by Marjean Moncel Tiede, Wife; Ferne Riggs Tiede, Mother; John C. Tiede, Father.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM EDT Wednesday, July 10, 2013, in Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel, Francesville, IN with Pastor James Ketchen officiating.
Burial will take place in the Bowman White Post Cemetery, Francesville, IN. The American Legion will conduct Military Graveside Services.
