Kenneth L. Ford, Jr., 88

Kenneth L. Ford, Jr., age 88, of Rensselaer passed away Friday, August 2, 2013 at his home. He was born on September 11, 1924 in Kouts, Indiana, the son of Kenneth L. Ford, Sr. and Laurette R. Lyon, both deceased. He was a resident of Rensselaer for 70 years; previously having lived in Chicago, IL and Plymouth, Ind. Ken graduated from Rensselaer High School, Class of 1943. On February 12, 1949, in Jeffersonville, Indiana, he married A. Bethel Stillman, who survives.

Ken was a retired salesman from the former Ken Ford's Auto Supply in Rensselaer. He was also formerly employed as an inspector for the Indiana Department of Transportation for 12 years. Ken was veteran of the United States Marines and was a member of the First Christian Church in Rensselaer. He was also a member of the V.F.W. Post #1279, the Elks Lodge #1791 in Watseka, Illinois, and a member of Curtis Creek Country Club since 1939.

Ken is survived by his wife of 64 years, A. Bethel Ford; two sons, K. Gregory (Monica) Ford of Maumee, OH, and Gary L. Ford of Fort Wayne, Indiana; one daughter, Sandra E. (Alan) Turnbeaugh of DeMotte, Indiana; one brother Monte (Jane) Ford of Spring Hill, FL; and five grandchildren, Allison (William Rompf) Ford, Jeffrey K. Ford, Jaron Ford, Aja Ford and Chet Turnbeaugh.

He was preceded in death by his parents and stepmother, Florence Ford.

Friends may call Tuesday, August 6, 2013 from 4:00-8:00 P.M. (CDT) at the Jackson Funeral Chapel of Rensselaer. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. (CDT) at the Jackson Funeral Chapel of Rensselaer with Pastor Elizabeth Hartmann officiating. Interment will follow at Weston Cemetery with full military rites.
