Kyle Osborn Obituary

Sgt. Kyle B. Osborn, 26

Sgt. Kyle B. Osborn, age 26, formerly of Stockwell, died September 13, 2012, as the result of injuries in Muqer, Afghanistan, while serving with the 1st Battalion 503rd Infantry Regiment. Kyle was born August 5, 1986, in Lafayette, the son of Creigh D. Osborn and Miriam H. Shively Osborn. He was a 2005 graduate of McCutcheon High School where he was a member of the football and wrestling teams, and, as a senior, was team captain and a state qualifier in wrestling. Following high school, Kyle attended Minnesota State University in Mankato, Minn.

Kyle has served in the United States Army for the past 5 years. His most recent assignment was with the 1st Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment of the 173rd HHC as a Senior Sniper Team Leader. Kyle was united in marriage on October 16, 2010, in Delano, Minn, to Maggie Klason.

Kyle is survived by his wife Maggie; his mother, Miriam, of Blackduck, Minn.; his father, Creigh, and his wife, Christa, of Stockwell, and their children, Katlyn and Kade; and his maternal grandmother, Esther Shively, of Lafayette. Kyle is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Clarence Shively and his paternal grandparents, Bruce and Betty Osborn.

Private family services will be conducted with burial next to his grandfather at the Yorktown Cemetery in Stockwell, with full military honors. A public memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday at McCutcheon High School.

In lieu of flowers, to honor Sgt, Kyle Osborn's wishes, his wife Maggie has established the Kyle Osborn Donation Trust at Wells Fargo Bank. The trust will go towards support of the Wounded Warriors Program, and a scholarship fund that will be established to assist Army wives who wish to further their education. Contributions may be made to any Wells Fargo Bank. Please help us honor Kyle by considering a contribution to the Trust.

Thanks for watching over us brother!

May 24, 2015

Yesterday you were honored and remembered during a four mile run called "I did the Grid" in Long Island, NY as I wore your name on my bib during the run. When I completed the run I rang a bell in your honor. I will carry your name with me in every run I do this year. Your sacrifice can not be forgotten.

I know there are no words to say at this time, except how sorry that I am. My thoughts and prayers are with you always. Kyle will never be forgotten.

For you every single soldier
Those who served so honorable
Your life was forever altered
While I'm home safe and free
I stand with grateful admiration
I stand respectful and so proud
I know I'm only a civilian
And I don't even know if it's allowed

But I salute you; allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
Even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
My humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you.

For those missing in action;
for those who didn't make it home.
I know you're in God's presence you are not alone.
For every neatly folded flag;
for every shattered family
I will do the only thing I know to dignify your memory.

I salute you, allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
my humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.

I salute you .

I Salute You.

I served with Kyle at Ft. Polk with the 1-509th IN (ABN). He was one Soldier that I will never forget. He ran the Pre-Ranger Program where he helped train many Soldiers for Ranger School. I remember talking to him frequently. He was a great Soldier. His legacy lives on with those Soldiers who have earned their Ranger Tab because of his training.

To his family: Kyle was simply awesome. I am sorry for your loss and my prayers are with you.

You will never be forgotten.

Kyle,
Did not know you, but served my time and was lucky enough to retire fully intact. You gave your life for me and my friends and I just wanted to say Thank You! To your family and friends, times will be tough and you will not forget Kyle, but focus on the good times and memories. I am sure that is what he would want. He is now working for God and he is in good hands. Bless you!

I confess I have wept for the family of SGT Kyle Osborn, probably will weep more in days ahead for I have prayed and will continue to pray for you all. May God's peace comfort you as you relish memories, and embrace each other in the sharing of them. I am very grateful for our Warriors of Peace and Protection, and profoundly do not take my freedom for granted. And probably because of this I weep all the more. Thank you is not enough for what this Warrior or any of our's who gave the Ultimate, but I will say thanks so very much to the families who allowed them to heed the call of serving. I am known wherever I go, to shake hands with those who serve (military gear) and those who are vets (wearing the caps to indicate so) and thank them for serving. I am only sorry I could not have done that with Sgt Osborn, so I ask Jesus to do it for me.
I am from the area where SGT Osborn grew up, and I am proud of how the citizens back there are honoring him.
God bless all of you.

For the Commander, Carroll R. Michaud

The Final Salute

“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.

This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to our Brother-in-Arms, SGT. Kyle B. Osborne, U.S. Army. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Kyle. And to Kyle it is rndered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the ultimate sacrifice he made for his country while opposing enemy forces in Afghanistan. Kyle you gave the last full measure of devotion for what you believed in and fought for. No greater love and patriotism are shown than when a man lays down his life in service to his country. Kyle, you are a brave American Warrior, a true Patriot and a national Hero. With your passing, our Country has lost a National Treasure. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace.

On behalf of the 1,261 members of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion in Shreveport, Louisiana, I extend our sympathies and our condolences to Kyle's family and loved ones.
