Larry Duane Hilt, 53, of Covington, passed away at 9:05 p.m. on Wednesday March 5, 2014 at St. Elizabeth East in Lafayette. He was born June 2, 1960 in Lafayette, to Connie E. Troxel-Hilt, and Gene A. Hilt. He was the first grandson of Gordon and Elizabeth Hilt. Larry was named after his father's beloved brother Larry Duane Hilt, Larry worked in the auto upholstery business replacing, and renovating vinyl tops. He owned his own business, Laundau Tops Vinyl in San Jose, CA in the 80's. Larry was a free-spirit, who went wherever the wind took him. He spent several years in IN, FL, SC, and CA. He enjoyed collecting knives and guns in his free time. In 1988 he married Sharon Menke of S.C. He had two daughters, Amanda Hilt, and Constance Hilt, both are now married. Larry was a good person who had a heart of gold. He was warm-hearted and kind to anyone who came into contact with him. Preceded in death by both parents, Connie E. Troxel-Haire, and Gene A. Hilt, stepfather Alan E. Haire, and maternal grandparents Mildred and Richard (Dick) Troxel, and paternal grandparents Gordon and Elizabeth Hilt. Surviving are ex-wife, love of his life, Sharon Menke & two daughters, Constance Hilt (Bell) of South Ca.& Amanda Hilt, of N.Y., several grand kid's..3 sisters: Karen Horn, Eve Hilt both of Laf. IN, and Barbie J. Haire, brother-in-law Ray Haire of Redding CA., two aunts Barbara Daniels, & Evelyn Clark, of Laf. IN, many nieces and nephews & cousins, ex brother-in-law and dear life-long friend Edward Slaughterbeck of Laf. IN, & close friend Jerry Bender of MI. Memories always in our hearts.
