The Guest Book is expired.
Lillian (Lawson) Breisler, 98; a week shy of 99, of Brookston, died at 3:50 am, Sunday, June 15, 2014, at St. Anthony's Health Care, Lafayette, with loved ones and friends by her side.
She was born June 24, 1915, in Borden to the late Clyde and Lucy (Jefferies) Lawson. The family moved to Brookston in 1929. She attended Brookston Academy. Lillian married Richard Breisler in 1939. He preceded her in death on October 11, 1979.
Mrs. Breisler was a hard worker, having worked several jobs through-out her lifetime. Her employment included working in Brookston for Homer Cottrell Funeral Home, Dr. Brockway, Dairy Queen, and Brookston Canning Company. She also worked at Centralab, Essex Wire, and the University Inn. However, the job Lillian loved the most was farming along-side her husband Richard. She also enjoyed taking care of the elderly and sick.
She was a member of the Methodist Church, Moose Lodge, and Grand Lodge. She was always so gracious and very welcoming to guests in her home. She would always invite them in, ask them to sit down, and offer them good food and company. Lillian enjoyed gospel and country music, caregiving, helping others, and cooking. She loved to can and had the biggest garden you ever did see. Lillian and Richard spent many winters in Florida.
Survivors include, her daughter, Lucy Breisler, of Brookston, with whom she made her home; 3 sisters, Violet Baker and Clara Lawson of New Albany, and Faye Moore (husband: Clayton) of Louisville, KY; 3 Great-God Children, Jeff and Steve Lesher, and Cindy Allen (husband: Gary); many nieces, nephews, cousins, and beloved friends - too many to mention.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Lucy (Jefferies) Lawson; her husband, Richard Breisler; her brother, James Lawson of Brookston; and her sister, Thelma Louise Lawson of New Albany.
Friends may call from 11 am until time of service at 2 pm, Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home, Brookston, with Rev. Dr. Lelan D. McReynolds officiating.
Interment will follow at Brookston I.O.O.F Cemetery.
