She worked for many years as a food engineer prior to retiring. She served as the President of the Association of MIT Alumnae from 1980-1984. In the fall of 1986, she began to see, an old friend from her student days, Felix (Phil) Haas during his sabbatical year at MIT. They married in June of 1987 and she returned to West Lafayette with him. She did volunteer work for multiple organizations in Greater Lafayette including the International Center and Saint Elizabeth Hospital. She was elected to the MIT Corporation (Board of Directors of MIT) on which she served from 1988-1993. She and Phil moved into University Place in 2008 and then to Southgate of Shrewsbury in Massachusetts in 2011, in order to be closer to family. In May of 2012, she and Phil moved to Sunrise of Westfield in New Jersey to be near her step-son David and step-daughter Liz. As time took its toll on her health, she remained an eternally upbeat companion to her family and friends.
