Marjorie M. "Mogie" Broach Curts, 95

Marjorie M. "Mogie" Broach Curts, 95, of Americus, died Mon.-Mar. 3, 2014 at 6:05pm at Mulberry Health & Retirement. She had been there 1 week and in failing health. She was born Sept. 12, 1918 in Savoy, IL, to the late Carl & Marie Whitt Broach. Her marriage was to Robert M. Curts in Frankfort in 1937, and he preceded her in death in Nov. 1966. She attended Jeff High School. She worked in area factories during WW II, while the men were in service, and then at the IN Veterans Home in West Lafayette, as head of housekeeping, from 1968, until her retirement in 1986. She attended the Americus Union Church. She was Past Worthy Matron of the Buck Creek Eastern Star Chapter, then merged with the Hope Chapter of Lafayette. She was a den mother for her son's boy scout troop, and bowled on the Wednesday night woman's league at Star Lanes in Laf. She was a past president of the woman's auxiliary of the Merou Grotto in West Laf. She enjoyed sewing, painting, and camping with her family. She liked to shop, even if she didn't purchase something. She dearly loved her family, and all of the many gatherings they had together. Surviving: daughter-Peggy M. Garth of Delphi; son-Robert "Bob" & Donna Curts of Delphi; brother-Daniel & Marge Broach of Lafayette. 5 grand, 9 great, and 4 great great grandchildren survive. Preceded in death by 2 sisters, 1 brother. Services: friends may call Thurs. from 5-8pm at Abbott Funeral Home-Delphi, funeral there Friday at 11am, Pastor Sue Spurling officiating.
